Why get hair extensions?
Thursday, January 14th, 2010There are many reasons why you may be thinking about getting hair extensions. Perhaps someone really butchered your haircut and you cannot wait a couple months for it to grow out or you just want to change things up a little, hair extensions are the best and fastest way to bring about the results that you seek. Luckily, whatever your situation is, there is a type of hair extension for you. Whether it is just something quick and fun and you want to use clip ins or it is repairing the damage inflicted by a poor stylist, your problem can be fixed. Hair extensions can be cheaper synthetic materials all the way to expensive and high quality human hair. When it comes to hair extensions, you have to choose the quality, application style, and material that will best suit your specific need. There are many great reasons to get hair extensions but these are the most common.
Fixing that really bad haircut. You just got home from the salon and you absolutely hate your haircut. You were not so sure when you were sitting in the chair but you’re home and you hate it. You have two options; wait months for it to grow out, or, get hair extensions.
Adding color or highlights to your hair that can be removed and do not contain harsh chemicals. Let us say you want to see how you look with a cool pink highlight in your hair. Either you can dye your hair which damages the hair and is difficult to undo or you can get a pink hair extension added to your hair.
Pure entertainment. Many people truly enjoy playing around and experimenting with their hair and hairstyles. Hairstyles give that person to transform completely their hairstyle in minutes.
Making your hair special for that important occasion. Maybe you are going to a wedding and you really want that full, thick, long head of curls that you just cannot pull off on your own.
It does not matter what the reason, hair extensions can provide a great what to change your hair quickly and without a lot of effort. Not to mention, it is easy to undue so there is no dreading the result because it can easily be undone if the desire outcome does not occur.
What to know about hair extensions
Friday, January 8th, 2010When you think of hair extensions, you probably think of long hours sitting at the salon, spending vast sums of money, painful pulling, or any number of different things. However, getting and applying hair extensions does not have to be the painful and arduous adventure that many people make it out to be. In reality, it is quite easy to apply and remove hair extensions in the privacy of your own home. Before you jump into applying your hair extensions at home, you should know a few things.
Some attachment methods will not be possible to do by yourself at home. Unless, of course, you happen to be a stylist or know a stylist, it is advised that you do not try to attach hair extensions using chemical bonding or fusion. These methods are better left to trained professionals because if they are not properly applied, your hair can be damaged. Clip in extensions do not face the same problem as other forms of attachment. They can be attached easily and quickly by yourself or with a friend in the comfort of your own home.
With clip in hair extensions, as with all extensions, it is important to know what material you are using. Depending on whether or not your hair extensions are real human hair or a synthetic fiber, what you can and cannot do to the hair extensions is different. For example, with human hair extensions you can do absolutely anything that you can do to your own hair because the extensions are made of real human hair. With synthetic extensions, however, depending on the material, you may not be able to curl or straighten them and dying the extensions could end very badly. A great thing about synthetic extensions though is because they are designed to maintain a specific look; there is absolutely no need to style them, as they will hold the look that they are intended to have in every situation.
DIY hair extensions are a great way to add that little extra something to your look without having to spend countless hours at a salon and pay exorbitant amounts of money to get them applied. You can easily and painlessly apply the hair extensions by yourself to achieve whatever look fits your mood. Whether you choose natural human hair extensions or opt instead to use a synthetic material, the ability to apply your hair extensions when and where you want is wonderfully convenient.
Hair care; Love your locks
Tuesday, December 8th, 2009Unfortunately, no one’s hair is perfect; however, that does not mean there are not things that can be done to improve the hair that you already have. In fact, there are many things that you can be doing to improve your hair easily and at home. Hair care is very important and not many of us are blessed with hair that can just be left alone and still look fantastic. For those of us who do not have that luxury, here are a few things that you can do to get the kind of hair that you have always wanted.
First, it is important to spend time brushing your hair. Many people skimp on the amount of time they spend brushing their hair and, as a result, run into all sorts of problems. Brushing your hair allows your hair that has been put out of the natural way that it grows out of your scalp to fall into place. If you seem to be having problems getting your hair to shine, or are having problems with knotting and tangling, you should probably brush more often, for a longer duration, or get a different brush. An ultra-fine tooth comb will not work for someone who has very course hair.
Secondly, using a good shampoo is imperative. What type of shampoo you use depends on what sort of hair you have and hair issues that you suffer from. For example, if you are suffering from dandruff, you should use a dandruff shampoo even though it may have shortcomings in other areas. It is also important to know what you want to get out of a shampoo. No shampoo can do everything and so picking the most important things that a shampoo can do for you will help you to choose a shampoo that will best suit your hair and what you are looking to get out of your hair.
Lastly, do not wash your hair in really hot water. I know how enjoyable that very hot shower can be but that really hot water can do heavy damage to your hair. Very hot water can result in split ends, dry hair, and dry scalp. Avoiding all of these things will go a long way towards attaining the hair that you really want.
Taking good care of your hair is not difficult but it does require you to be mindful and put in a little bit of time. Think of these things as an investment. If you invest the time and effort to take care of your hair, it will take care of you in return by being what you want it to be. There is no need to fight your hair. Love your locks and they will love you back.
Clip in extensions
Thursday, November 26th, 2009Over the past couple decades, hair extensions have increased in popularity and are, today, treated much like any other self-improvement indulgence like blush and mascara. In fact, you probably know a number of people who wear hair extensions but you cannot tell. Hair extensions can be worn for any reason and for any amount of time but for someone who is not sure whether they want to take the plunge or just want to do something different for a little while, clip in extensions are the best choice. As the name implies, clip in extensions use special clips to attach them to your hair as opposed to bonding agents, adhesives, or weaves. There are a number of benefits when using clip in hair extensions when compared to other forms of extensions.
One big attraction to clip in extensions is that you can do them yourself and in the privacy of your own home. Hair extensions that need to be woven, bonded, or glued cannot be put in your hair properly by yourself and have to be done by a professional who is looking closely at your head and hair. The only thing you need for clip in extensions is a mirror and the knowledge of what you want your hair to look like. With those simple tools, you can set about attaining the look that you want.
Another attraction is the fact that you can have the extensions for as long or as short as you want. Other types of extensions can take an hour to be put in and cannot be taken out by yourself. Going to the salon to get hair extensions in only to have to go back shortly after to get them taken out is not fun and can be expensive. With clip in extensions, you can put them in and take them out when and where you want.
Lastly, you can experiment with all sorts of different colors and other fun and funky changes. With clip in hair extensions, you can add any color to your hair easily and quickly and you do not have to worry about whether or not you are going to like it the next day. That pink highlight in your hair is not as scary when, if you do not like it, you can simply unclip it and remove it from your hair and not have to worry about putting dye in your hair or how long it will take to wash out.
